Lily Forte is an indie alt-pop musician originally from Florida and now based in Los Angeles. Her unique sultry vocals invoke dreamy and nostalgic emotions. Her most recent release titled Bottle Blondes is a manifestation of her bluesy rock n roll sound paired with her intricate and delicate lyricism.

You have a new release titled Bottle Blondes that you've been teasing a lot on TikTok with the lyrics "Smoking in your car / Said I'm gonna be a star / You said life doesn't always go as we plan / But I got intuition." What’s the inspiration behind it?
Bottle Blondes is about identity, love, and loss. When creating it, we captured the imagery of losing someone, while not wavering on who you are after they’re gone. As a young woman, I constantly feel the need to change myself for love, but in this track, I embrace what makes me who I am - "I'll dye my hair black for forever."
What separates your newer releases (Bottle Blondes, One Ways, Reminisce on innocence) from your previous ones featured on your 2021 EP Losing The Illusion which featured songs like I Was Wearing Green, Play Pretend & Rachel ?

In the last 6 months I feel as though I’ve really come into my own and established my sound. I grew up singing Rock n Roll, Jazz, and the Blues and I feel like I really lean into that in these new releases.
Reminisce on Innocence is currently your number one song on Spotify with over 60,000 streams. This song sparked a darker rock infused aesthetic to your discography. What’s the reason behind this direction in your career?

This sort of happened naturally I’d say. I wrote Reminisce on Innocence in December 2021 after spending about 6 months in LA and experiencing extreme writers block. This track was the first track that brought me out of my writer’s block and it was one of those ones that just poured out of me very quickly. I also think that from project to project an artist’s aesthetic grows with them and I just wasn’t that 18 year old girl from I Was Wearing Green anymore. I was growing into myself and my sound, which as I said before- I grew up singing rock n roll, so I think that had a great influence on me.
What motivates you the most as an independent musician?
I think living in LA has really motivated me as an independent musician. Everyone is out here fighting for their dream and it’s only inspired me to work harder and push myself more than ever before as an artist. I also appreciate the camaraderie from those around me and all the collaborators I’ve encountered since moving here- they really inspire me as well.

How many shows have you done so far? What was your favorite?
I’ve done around 8 shows in the LA area and I think my favorite was performing at Townhouse Venice in March of 2022. This was one of my first experiences having a crowd singing along to my songs and I’ll never forget that feeling.
What can we expect from upcoming unreleased Lily Forte songs?
Expect everything to be more dramatic than before lol. In all seriousness, these new tracks have new expanded topics lyrically and sonically, I lean into darker sounds inspired by distorted electric guitar and cinematically driven instrumentation.
